SMU provides the Online Password Tool for all Faculty, Staff, and Students. This tools allows customers to personally manage their SMU account password. For security reasons, the ITS Help Desk is not permitted to reset passwords over the phone. Therefore, individuals who do not Enroll in the Online Password Tool will need to visit the ITS Help Desk in person, with a picture ID, to request a password reset.
All Faculty, Staff, and Students are permitted to use the Online Password Tool any time of the day or night from any location.
By default all SMU accounts are automatically eligible to use the
Online Password Tool.
In order to use the
Reset
password function, customers must first
Enroll
in the Online Password Tool. This process consists of choosing three
security questions and providing the unique answers to those questions.
