Adobe Acrobat Essentials

Adobe Acrobat is installed on almost every computer on campus, and you probably use it to view PDF files every day. Have you ever wanted to know more about what Acrobat can do? In this one-hour hands-on course, you'll learn more about creating PDF files, editing and formatting files, publication methods, and the basics on creating your own online forms. We will also cover why PDFs are a useful file format and different use cases for them.

Exploring Excel Functions & Pivot Tables

Do you have the basics of Excel but want to dive a little deeper? Join us as we explore more advanced functions including using functions for formatting text, IF logic, and H and VLOOKUP functions. This basic hands-on training course for the is tailored for those on campus who may not be designing pages from the ground up, but who need to update, add, or remove information from web pages. Learn how to enter information, upload and insert images, links to other pages, and how to navigate the Sitecore interface. No prior experience in Sitecore is required.

Sitecore for Designers

Are you ready to take your web pages beyond the basics? Sitecore, SMU’s Web Content Management System, does much of the work in creating your pages, but sometimes it needs a little wrangling to get it to shine. This session is for more advanced users of Sitecore. We will cover how to spice up those pages by editing the CSS and HTML. We will also look at using widgets to present content in different and interesting ways.

my.SMU Training

Security and training for my.SMU (formerly Access.SMU) must first be approved by the Registrar’s Office or appropriate Module Lead. Managers may request security and training for their employee by submitting a Help Desk ticket. Please note, for security purposes the Training Team can only accept my.SMU training requests via the Help Desk ticket system. Instructions for selecting the appropriate form can be found here. Once the Training Team has received approval to train on my.SMU, we will schedule the appropriate in-person or online training.

my.SMU Self Service Tutorials 

Contains over 50 step-by-step guides and tutorials for Faculty, Staff and Students. Staff will find the TIMEaccess resources helpful. Faculty information on Gradebook, processing grades, and advising is available. Students can access instructions for enrolling, updating personal information and viewing academic and financial information.
