Melissa Bryant, Director of New Student Programs

Melissa Bryant is the Director of New Student Programs and has been at SMU since 2001. Prior to joining New Student Programs, she was the Conference & Leadership Development Coordinator for Residence Life and Student Housing.  Melissa has nine years of professional experience working in higher education and specific experience advising students, building partnerships, creating programs, implementing new initiatives, and coordinating logistics.  She has a Master’s Degree from the University of Alabama where she was the Graduate Assistant for Parent Orientation and Leadership Development.  Melissa has a B.A. in History from Susquehanna University.  She lives in Lakewood with her husband Jason and her dog Dixie.
 

Emily Sandvall, Coordinator of New Student Programs

Emily Sandvall is the Coordinator of New Student Programs and has been with the University since June 2006.  In May, just before joining SMU, Emily graduated with her Master’s degree in College Student Affairs from Azusa Pacific University in Azusa, California.  While in graduate school she served as the Graduate Intern with The Office of Student Success at Azusa Pacific University, the Orientation Intern at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee, and as one of the advisors for the Committee for Campus Life and Activities (CCLA) at Pomona College in Claremont, California.  Emily’s passion for college students started as an undergraduate working with Orientation and Welcome Week at Baylor University where she graduated with a B.S. in Health Science.  After living in L.A. for two years, she and her husband, Bryce, are happy to be living back in the great state of Texas.
