NODA Internships

The Office of New Student Programs partners with the National Orientation Directors Association (NODA) to host interns from graduate preparation programs across the country. All interested applicants should visit www.nodaweb.org for more information!

Position Description

Intern assists in the design, implementation and assessment of programs and services that are based in the Office of New Student Programs. Assists in coordination of special Academic Advising, Registration and Orientation (AARO) sessions for first-year and transfer students. Also works with AARO for International Students. Serves as primary adviser for AARO Leaders and helps to train and evaluate the student staff. The intern coordinates the campus-wide resource expo and evening activities for the AARO program. The intern also serves as an on-call staff member during the AARO program. The intern has the opportunity to attend the Student Affairs Divisional Retreat in May and also is able to sit in on various committees and interviews that occur throughout the summer. The intern is able to network with University administrators and other interns from across campus. Other duties will be determined based on the interest of the selected candidate and the needs of the Office of New Student Programs. There is some flexibility on the end date of the internship and the possibility of serving as a Staff Director for Mustang Corral.

Qualifications

Candidate must have experience advising and/or supervising undergraduate students. Experience in orientation is preferred but not required. Candidate must have a positive attitude and be a contributing member of a fast-paced team environment. Must be willing to collaborate with numerous offices on campus and able to interact with a diverse student and family population. Must be self-motivated, extremely organized and detail-oriented.

Compensation

  • Efficiency apartment on campus with kitchenette, private bath, cable/phone access, and ethernet connection
  • A stipend of $2250 is awarded per Summer
  • Apartment can accommodate a spouse/partner
  • A 21 meal/week meal plan is included as well as $250 in Express Cash (usable on and near campus)
  • All meals are included at AARO program

Dates

The internship lasts from May 15, 2008 to August 24th, 2008. There is some flexibility on the end date for the internship.
