What is Mustang Corral?
Mustang Corral is the best way to connect with your classmates and SMU! In
addition to meeting your classmates, you will also get to know faculty, staff,
and student leaders who will teach you about the spirit and traditions of SMU,
as well as academic life. Mustang Corral is a three-day, off-campus retreat for
all incoming students. This is an experience you won’t want to miss!

Mustang Corral is Thursday, August 21-Saturday, August 23, 2008.

We use retreat locations located in the
beautiful Texas Hill Country.
How much does Mustang Corral cost?
You will be a charged a $300 orientation fee that covers programs including AARO,
Mustang Corral, and the Encore Series in your first tuition bill for the
semester.
When is the deadline to register for Mustang Corral?
The deadline to register for Mustang Corral is August 7th.
When is Mustang Corral check-in?
Check-in for Mustang Corral will be the morning of Thursday, August 21st at
Moody Coliseum. More details to come as Mustang Corral approaches!
How can I register for Mustang Corral?
When you register for Academic Advising, Registration, and Orientation (AARO),
you will have the option to register for Mustang Corral. Check the appropriate
box and the registration fee will be added to your final total.

Mustang Corral?
Mustang Corral attendees can move into their residence halls Wednesday,
August 20th.
What do I bring to Mustang Corral?
- Casual, comfortable clothes (90-100 degree weather)--We suggest T-shirts and gym shorts!
- A modest bathing suit
- Sheets, sleeping bag or some kind of bedding
- Pillow
- Towel and toiletries
- Shower shoes
- Sunscreen
- Insect repellent
- Tennis shoes
How do I get to campus to move-in before Mustang Corral?
- Special Air Travel Arrangements
- SMU has negotiated with American Airlines, the
official carrier for participants of AARO and Mustang Corral, to help
you secure the least expensive fare to Dallas. American is offering
discounted fares valid for travel within the United States. The special
rates are available only through the American Airlines Meeting Services
Desk at 1-800-433-1790 for individual reservations. You must indicate
that you are attending Southern Methodist University Orientation and ask
specifically for discount code A1368SS. Meeting Services will confirm
the lowest applicable fare, providing tariff rules are met. Fare
contracted is base fare only. Any Applicable taxes, fees, and charges
are the responsibility of the passenger.

What activities happen after Mustang Corral and before
school starts?
Students will arrive back on campus around noon on Saturday, August 23rd and
will have the afternoon to unpack and make a trip to the bookstore to get ready
for the first day of class on Monday, August 25th. Program Council will host
a big event in the evening on Saturday, August 23rd and on Sunday, August 24th students will attend their mandatory hall
meetings, the Common Reading Discussion, Rotunda Passage, and Convocation.
These traditional welcome events are a great way to start off the school year!
