You either have a cotton candy addiction or you don’t. I definitely have the sticky-finger fetish; I blame it on being exposed to the pink, fluffy wonderment at the State Fair of Texas as a toddler.

Naturally, when I learned of a Dallas woman who has invented a fancier, more flavorful version of cotton candy called Fluffpop, I sat up and took notice.

About a year ago, Yasmeen Tadia, 29, fine-tuned the concept of gourmet cotton candy and has been spinning sugary flavors such as guava, lychee, pineapple, cappuccino, pomegranate and mint.

Recently, she was churning out Fluffpops at a women’s networking event at the House of Blues near downtown.

As Tadia started spinning guava Fluffpops, people gravitated to her setup to watch her make the tiny poofs.

“The guava Fluffpops smell like a little tropical paradise,” she said.

A guest grabbed a couple of pops. In one bite, a pineapple Fluffpop was history. The other was delivered to a friend.

Tadia’s website lists several flavors, as well as versions that are organic, gluten-free, vegan and kosher. The pops can be sprinkled with edible glitter for swanky events.

Fluffpop Flares are made on glow sticks. Some are laced with Pop Rocks candy.
