Access.SMU is
the information system SMU students use for many basic functions involving
financial aid, student financial services, course enrollment, and the Registrar.
In other
words, Access.SMU will become your primary vehicle – and in some cases the
only vehicle – for many of the functions listed below.
To use Access.SMU, you will need your SMU ID number and an official password. You will receive this password in the mail and will be able to view financial aid packages on Access.SMU before orientation. However, you are free to use the Access.SMU tutorial without a password so as to familiarize yourself with the system.
Although you will receive your password in advance, you cannot actually enroll until you meet with your Academic Adviser, and your tuition bill will not be generated until you have enrolled.
After your initial enrollment, you can use Access.SMU for the following basic functions:
- Financial information viewing
- Holds and To Do’s to complete (holds are blocks on enrollment)
- Schedule of Classes search
- Class Enrollment
- Campus Essentials selection, such as parking, dining, and yearbook
- Tuition/fee payment (But note that you will not have a bill until you have met with your Academic Adviser to enroll in classes)
- Address updates (You must complete these once a semester)
