Don Fabian is principal saxophone and soloist with "America's Premiere Wind Band', the Dallas Wind Symphony. Mr. Fabian is also the music director and soprano saxophonist with the award winning Texas Saxophone Quartet. The TSQ was the first saxophone chamber music ensemble to win the prestigious Fischoff Chamber Music Competition in 1987 and finalists in New York's Concert Artist Guild and Chamber Music Chicago.
A graduate of the Crane School of Music, S.U.N.Y. at Potsdam New York, he earned his bachelor's degree in both performance and music education under the tutelage of renowned saxophone pedagogue, Dr. James M. Stoltie. His master's degree was completed in woodwind/saxophone performance at Michigan State University with saxophone virtuoso James Forger.
A fluid performer in all mediums of saxophone stylings, from the orchestra pit of the Dallas Opera and Dallas Summer Musicals to the stage of the Morton Meyerson Symphony Center, Mr. Fabian is an active performer and comprehensive teacher in the musical life of Dallas, and its vibrant surrounding communities.
Mr. Fabian is presently adjunct professor of saxophone at Southern Methodist University and maintains an active schedule as a music educator in the vibrant community of Plano. He also concurrently holds the position of personnel manager for the Dallas Wind Symphony.
The Dallas Wind Symphony will feature Mr. Fabian in the 2003-2004 Meyerson Concert Season in a performance of William Albright's Heater, Symphonic Saga for Saxophone and Wind Orchestra.
Mr. Fabian is a YAMAHA performing artist and exclusively plays the Model 875 Custom Alto and Soprano Saxophones.
