Journalism FacilitiesFacilities: The Journalism Complex in the Umphrey Lee Center features a state-of-the-art broadcast facility and engineering room, a radio broadcast facility and three digital classrooms all equipped with an Internet-connected computer at each seat. The classrooms are used for daily instruction in many of the main skills classes including reporting, editing, digital photojournalism, broadcast and video production. SMU-TV broadcasts from the studio 24 hours a day and includes The Daily Update, a daily news show written and produced by students, as well as programming generated in a variety of broadcast classes.

The Rosine Smith Sammons Lecture in Media Ethics presents an annual lecture focusing on media ethics. Past lecturers have included journalist Catherine Crier and presidential adviser Karen Hughes.
