Meadows Dance Ensemble Presents 2007 Fall Dance Concert, Nov. 7-11, Featuring Martha Graham's Primitive Mysteries and Works by Ben Stevenson and Danny Buraczeski; Noted Dance Critics Clive Barnes and Mindy Aloff Join Martha Graham Alumni and SMU Faculty for Free Public Panel Discussion on Saturday, Nov. 10 at 12 p.m.
The Meadows Dance Ensemble at SMU’s Meadows School of the Arts will present its Fall Dance Concert from November 7-11 in the Bob Hope Theatre of the Owen Arts Center, 6101 Bishop Blvd. on the SMU campus. Featured will be Primitive Mysteries, a 1931 masterwork by Martha Graham; End of Time Pas de Deux by Texas Ballet Theater Artistic Director Ben Stevenson; and the premiere of Umbra, a new work set to Duke Ellington music by faculty member Danny Buraczeski. SMU’s Meadows School of the Arts Announces 2007-2008 Dance Season
The Division of Dance at SMU Meadows of the Arts rates among the top university dance programs in the nation. Our students train in ballet, modern and jazz dance and have numerous opportunities for both performance and choreography, as well as the chance to work with internationally renowned guest choreographers. As a result of their discipline and versatility, our dance graduates are members of top companies, including the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre, Paul Taylor Dance Company, and Parsons Dance. Dance Department Helps Preserve Pilobolus Masterwork Alraune
While many performers are trying constantly to discover a new or groundbreaking element of their particular art, the Division of Dance at the Meadows School of the Arts is working to preserve a unique style of modern dance. The Division of Dance is conducting a documentation and performance project for the dance Alraune by the American dance company Pilobolus. Alraune was presented in April at the Spring Dance Concert.
