Two Professors Hired at the Temerlin Advertising Institute

Steve Edwards and Carrie La Ferle, professors at Michigan State University who are nationally known in the advertising education field, will join the Temerlin Advertising Institute. Edwards, who focuses his research on interactive advertising, and La Ferle, an authority on international advertising, add expertise in areas "critical to the progress of the advertising industry in the 21st century," according to Dr. Patricia Alvey. The Meadows School of the Arts’ Temerlin Advertising Institute strengthened its position as one of the top advertising programs in the country recently when eight TAI students earned national recognition for their winning entry into a national restaurant chain’s advertising contest. Read more

SMU Students Compete in Restaurant’s ‘30 Seconds of Fame’ Ad Contest

Chipotle Mexican Grill recently launched its first-ever college advertising competition, “30-Seconds of Fame,” and students at 22 colleges and universities nationwide have produced commercials for the restaurant chain in hopes of winning a $10,000 first prize (the company will also donate $10,000 to the winning school). Dr. KendrickTemerlin Advertising Institute Students Invited to Showcase Work in Prestigious New York Show

For years, the Temerlin Advertising Institute (TAI) has featured a strong curriculum and sent its graduates on to successful careers in the field, either in Dallas or at agencies around the country. Thanks to two American Advertising Federation national championships in the last five years and the strong performance of ad majors in recent competitions, the national reputation of the program continues to grow. Dr. KendrickTemerlin Advertising Institute Students Win Regional Division, Advance to Finals of 2006 AAF National Student Advertising Competition

A team of 14 students from the Temerlin Advertising Institute at SMU’s Meadows School of the Arts won first place in the regional (10th district) division of the American Advertising Federation (AAF) 2006 National Student Advertising Competition held April 27 in Corpus Christi, Texas. Temerlin’s team, Praxis, competed against 12 other colleges and universities in the 10th district from Oklahoma, Texas, Louisiana and Arkansas – the largest, and considered by many the toughest, region in the AAF – and advanced to the national finals, which was held June 11-13 in San Francisco.
