Meadows Committees

Meadows Committee on Academic Affairs
This committee oversees academic policies and curriculum. It is made up of one full-time faculty member from each division in Meadows: Advertising, Art, Art History, Arts Administration & Corporate Communications, Cinema-Television, Dance, Music, Journalism and Theatre. Committee members are elected for a one-year term by their Division. The committee is chaired by the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and meets monthly during the academic year.

Meadows Commission on Faculty Issues
This commission discusses questions of faculty grievance and may recommend action to the Office of the Dean on such matters. Each Division in Meadows (Advertising, Art, Art History, Arts Administration, Cinema-Television, Corporate Communications & Public Affairs, Dance, Music, Journalism and Theatre) elects a full-time faculty member at the beginning of the academic year. The members of the commission elect its chair. The commission meets as needed, and only meets when there is a formal grievance.

Meadows Committee on Promotion and Tenure
This committee meets to advise the Dean of the Meadows School on matters of Promotion and Tenure. It is made up of one tenured full-time faculty member, appointed by the Dean, from each division in Meadows: Advertising, Art, Art History, Arts Administration, Cinema-Television, Corporate Communications & Public Affairs, Dance, Music, Journalism and Theatre. The committee is chaired by the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, who only votes to resolve a deadlock. The committee meets at the end of the fall term and as needed.

Meadows Committee on Graduate Policies
This committee meets to discuss matters of graduate student policy. It is made up of the Associate Dean for Student Affairs, the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, the Meadows Coordinator of Graduate Admissions and Records and the graduate advisors of those divisions where graduate students have primary responsibility for course supervision (Dance, Music and Theatre). The committee is chaired by the Associate Dean for Student Affairs and meets as needed, but at least once every term.

Meadows Committee on Institutional Effectiveness
This committee oversees implementation of Institutional Effectiveness Plans. It is made up of the Associate Deans and the ten Division Chairs (Advertising, Art, Art History, Arts Administration, Cinema-Television, Corporate Communications & Public Affairs, Dance, Music, Journalism and Theatre). The committee is chaired by the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and meets as needed, but at least once every term.
