About LEAD

LEAD was originally founded at SMU over 15 years ago as PDLT, Presidents Developing Leaders for Tomorrow, which primarily served as an organization to train in-coming First Year student leaders. In 1998, the name of the organization changed to Leadership Consultant Council (LCC). It broadened its purpose to encompass all SMU students with the Fall Student Leadership Conference (now the Crain Leadership Conference) and the Dallas Area High Schools with the John Ben Shepperd High School Leadership Forum. LCC continues to run the PDLT program under the new name of Emerging Leaders. In the 2001-2002 academic school year, the organization expanded to include a semester-long leadership training program for all interested SMU students, the Consulting Services Program (now the Leadership Certificate Program). In 2005, LCC changed it's name again to LEAD: Leadership Education, Activities and Development.
