SMU-in-Argentina: Language and Culture

Buenos Aires is the capital of Argentina and home to the 11 day January program.

SMU-in-Argentina is designed for students who want to perfect their Spanish, as well as their intercultural competence. This program helps students to create a unique perspective through a combination of in-classroom and experiential learning activities throughout the city of Buenos Aires. Students will expand their knowledge regarding cultural, historical, political, and social issues within the Argentine society. Through this experience, students will be able to contextualize and discuss key issues within this society.

This program includes reading texts (newspapers and articles), viewing various films, visiting different landmarks, and attending a variety of cultural events in Buenos Aires.  Some of the site visits include El Cementerio de la Recoleta, el Teatro Colón, Estancia to see the Gaucho Community, as well as tango performances and other cultural events typical for Argentinians.
