SMU is a certified test site for the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), which is an internationally owned and globally recognized English language assessment of the highest quality and integrity. IELTS is primarily used by those seeking international education, professional recognition, bench-marking to international standards and global mobility.
IMPORTANT NOTICES
INCLEMENT WEATHER NOTICE: If our SMU Campus should close down due to inclement weather (snow/ice) during the winter months the notice of closing will be posted on the

The SMU IELTS office phone is not answered on Saturdays. You will be notified of a postponement date if the University closes due to inclement weather but travel expenses incurred are at your personal expense.
PLEASE INCLUDE AN ADDITIONAL $30 Shipping & Handling Fee for any Test Report Form Mailed Outside the USA this includes Canada.
COPY OF CURRENT/VALID PASSPORT MUST BE INCLUDED WITH YOUR APPLICATION FORM AND MUST BE PRESENTED ON TEST DAY. PASSPORTS MUST NOT BE EXPIRED YOU CANNOT USE A DRIVER'S LICENSE AS YOUR FORM OF ID FOR THE TEST.
IELTS CANCELLATION/POSTPONEMENT POLICY
I understand that I will be charged the full test fee if I postpone or cancel my test date (less than 5 weeks prior to scheduled test date), unless I provide appropriate medical evidence to support the postpone or cancellation. Appropriate form will be provided upon request. Only evidence of serious illness will be considered. I understand that medical evidence must be provided within 5 days of the scheduled test date. This policy is also stated on the Declaration page of the IELTS application and on our test center "Test Admission Ticket"
