Continue the discussion we
started Feb. 10 about the morality of creating art from a
tragedy as vast and far-implicating as the Holocaust or
of the subsequent immorality of ignoring its existence
altogether. Join us for this thoughtful, provocative talk led by
some of the leaders in this field of study.
RICK HALPERIN,
Ph.D., teaches History
and Human Rights at Southern Methodist University and has worked
extensively with the Center for Survivors of Torture in Dallas,
and with other similar entities. Since 1996, he has been
visiting, photographing, and videotaping Holocaust and other
World War II sites across Europe and conducting oral history
interviews with Holocaust survivors, World War II participants,
and the descendants of both groups. He currently serves as the
chair of the Amnesty International USA Board of Directors.
ZSUZSANNA OZSVATH, Ph.D.
is Professor
of Literature and the History of Ideas in the School of Arts and
Humanities at the University of Texas at Dallas. She holds the
Leah and Paul Lewis Chair and is the Director of the School's
Holocaust Studies Program.
KATHY CHAPMAN is the Director of Education at the Holocaust
Museum and Center for Tolerance in Dallas. She has served on
panels, given talks, and presented educational programs all over
the U.S., Southwest, and Texas. She is supremely well-versed in
Holocaust literature and designs curricula and programs for the
Museum that reach literally tens of thousands of visitors each
year. |
