Weight Watchers® At Work New Series To Begin Soon!

Join the best bunch of losers on campus! Learn strategies for eating healthy while retaining flexibility in your food choices. Get great recipes and support from group members while learning how to eat in the "real world," not from a cardboard box. Over 15 of our members have reached their goal and maintained their weight successfully, earning Lifetime member status. We want you to join their ranks!

Losing excess weight not only increases your energy, but it may help improve your cholesterol levels, blood sugar, and blood pressure. Bringing these values within the normal range can help you avoid heart disease and Type II diabetes! Weight Watchers can help you make healthy lifestyle changes now!

Interested in joining? Email us at wellpower@smu.edu to let us know. We'll send you the most current information and answer your questions!  As a participant in the Wellpower program you may earn Wellpower credits for participating in Weight Watchers, however, this program is open to any employee of the university.

Cost of the 17-week series will be $186 and includes 19 weeks of free e-Tools. We need a minimum of 20 members to offer this reduced rate! See below for payment information.

Series will begin once we have 20 members signed up.

We will not meet:

      • March 7

      • March 14 Spring Break

      • March 21, 2008 Good Friday

      • May 23, 2008 (Before Memorial Day)

      • July 4, 2008 Independence Day

  Regular Meeting Times:
Our meetings will be held on Fridays from 12:30-1:15pm. Weigh-in typically is available at 12:15. The actual "meeting" typically begins at 12:45 and ends at 1:15pm.

Schedule and Locations:

Exact schedule and locations to be announced once we have enough members to offer the series. We hope to begin March 28, 2007.
Remember, if you need to miss a meeting at SMU, you can attend one at a Weight Watcher's Center during the same week. If you want to attend a community meeting during a week when SMU doesn't meet, you will need to pay for that meeting at the community center.
  Payment Information:
We are offering a 17-week series. The cost is $186 for the series and is payable by credit card, check or cash. You may split payment by writing 3 checks (all dated March 28th) for $62 each and Weight Watchers will deposit one check per month. You may not split payments using a credit card and you must pay for the entire series when you join. Email us at wellpower@smu.edu with questions about payments once the series has begun.

  Wellpower Credits:
You may enter 1 Body credit per meeting attended whether you attend our At Work meeting or in the community.

Using FSA Dollars To Pay For Weight Watchers® At Work

If your physician has prescribed the Weight Watcherss® program as a treatment for obesity or an obesity-related disease, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) will allow you to use your FSA dollars to pay for this program tax-free. This can add up to significant tax savings-and it provides a way for you to spread the cost of the program over several pay periods during the year!

How FSA Reimbursement Works

If you're eligible to use your FSA dollars for the program, here's how payments will work. If you sign up for Weight Watchers you will be asked to pay for the entire series of classes upfront-either by check or using a credit card.

Weight Watchers® can provide you with a receipt, which you will need to file with Ceridian (the FSA administrator) for reimbursement from your Health Care Account. Along with your Weight Watchers® receipt and an FSA claim form, you must also provide Ceridian with a form completed by your physician stating your medical diagnosis and referral to Weight Watchers®. If you need a form that you can provide to your physician for these purposes, CLICK HERE.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

While the IRS has approved using FSA dollars to pay for certain physician-prescribed weight-loss programs used to treat obesity, there are many expenses related to weight loss that are not eligible for FSA reimbursement. Some examples include: health club memberships, diet foods or beverages, meal replacement drinks, nonprescription diet products and exercise equipment. For a complete list of eligible expenses, visit the IRS web site at www.irs.gov and view IRS Publications 969 and 502.
