MERIT-BASED SCHOLARSHIPS
President’s Scholars Program
This is a full-tuition and fees scholarship for approximately 25 of SMU’s most academically gifted entering first-year students (and several upperclass students who apply each year). The program also provides study abroad, special faculty mentoring, access to SMU’s most distinguished visitors and an annual retreat to SMU-in-Taos. Hunt Leadership Scholars Program
For approximately 20-25 entering students who have demonstrated extraordinary leadership ability and strong academic performance, this program provides full tuition (less the cost of the student’s home state university tuition), study abroad and the expectation and support for leadership during the Hunt Scholar’s education at SMU. Hunt Scholars have access to business, civic and community leaders, SMU’s renowned Tate Lecture Series and special faculty and civic mentoring. Other merit-based scholarships include University Scholars, International Baccalaureate Scholars, SMU Distinguished Scholars, National Merit Scholars and various scholarships offered by the Cox School of Business, Meadows School of the Arts and the School of Engineering, including the J. Lindsay Embrey Academic Excellence Scholarship.
