HONORS PROGRAMS
The University Honors Program
The University Honors Program invites the highest-achieving students entering the University. Participants are challenged in small classes conducive to student debate and interaction. Members of the University Honors Program also have access to other intellectual and creative opportunities, including speakers, receptions and the chance to apply for Richter Fellowships that allow study abroad with respect to a student-designed research project. Additionally, Honors students are invited to live in the Honors residential community. Visit the Web site of the University Honors Program.
Hilltop Scholars Program
The Hilltop Scholars Program (HSP) at SMU offers a unique living-learning environment for first-year students. The HSP difference begins with the convenient, in-residence hall location of some classes, smaller class size and the continued learning that happens in the residence hall after class has ended. In addition, Hilltop Scholars host regular programs and speakers in their residence hall. Visit the Web site of the Hilltop Scholars Program.
Business Scholars Program
Under the Business Scholars Program, selected students entering SMU are pre-selected for admission to Cox School of Business. Business Scholars have the same curricular requirements as other students who pursue a BBA degree, but have the advantage of early admission to the Cox BBA program, Cox advising, Cox Career Services and special events. Each year, 100-120 students enter SMU as Business Scholars. For more information on the Business Scholars Program, click here.
BBA Honors Program
The BBA Honors Program is an honors curriculum within the business curriculum. Students are offered a number of honors sections in business courses; these sections are small and emphasize discussion. By entering the BBA Honors Program, maintaining at least a 3.5 GPA in a minimum of four honors courses and a 3.5 cumulative SMU GPA, the student will receive the notation “Honors in Business” on the transcript and diploma.
