Password Reset Application- Instructions

The Password Reset Application allows you to reset your SMU password any time of the day or night.  In order to use this application, you must first ENROLL using a working password.

ENROLL

  1. Click the Enroll icon
  2. Enter your SMU ID number without the hyphen
  3. The Domain will already be filled in
  4. Select two security questions from the drop down menus. Please select questions to which only you know the answers. You will not need to remember which questions you chose, but you will need to remember your answers.
  5. Type the answers to each of those questions in the appropriate fields
  6. Click Next

RESET

You may only use this feature if you have previously enrolled in the application.

  1. Click the Reset icon
  2. Enter your SMU ID number without the hyphen
  3. Supply the answer to each security question.  Answers are not case sensitive.
  4. Enter a new password in the new password field
  5. Enter the same password in the confirm password field
  6. Click Next

UNLOCK

If you have incorrectly entered your password too many times, your account may be locked out.  This option will unlock your account but will not reset your password.

  1. Click the Unlock icon
  2. Enter your SMU ID number without the hyphen
  3. Supply the answer to each security question when prompted.
  4. Click Next

CHANGE PASSWORD

If you know your current SMU Password but would like to select a new password, select this option.

  1. Click the Change icon
  2. Enter your SMU ID number
  3. Enter your Current SMU Password
  4. Enter your new password
  5. Enter the new password in the confirm password field
  6. Click Next
