SMU POLICE DEPARTMENT

The SMU Police Department, located on the second floor of Patterson Hall, 3128 Dyer, is open at all times. Officers patrol the campus day and night and also may be summoned by telephone 24-hours a day.Dial 911 for Emergencies

MENTAL HEALTH EMERGENCIES

Emergencies during business hours (8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday)

For mental health emergencies during business hours, the SMU Counseling and Psychiatric Services provides immediate counseling. To access this service, DROP BY our office located on the second floor of the Memorial Health Center, 6211 Bishop Blvd. or CALL 214-768-2277.

For mental health emergencies after business hours and on weekends, CALL 214-768-2277. A recorded message will give you information on accessing the mental health professional on call.

When you call 214-768-2277, you will hear a 'beep', then please enter your telephone number.  If you do not receive a prompt reply, please try the page again or call the SMU Police at 214-768-3333.

SEXUAL ASSAULT and ACQUAINTANCE RAPE

For immediate medical and/or police assistance, CALL 911. If you live on campus, the SMU Police Department will respond to your call. If you live off campus, calling 911 will put you in touch with the police department in your area.  

Free, confidential counseling or assistance and information are available ANYTIME by calling SMU's Office of Psychological Services for Women at 214-768-4795 and following the prompts.

SUBSTANCE ABUSE/OVERDOSE

In case of medical emergency (eg. overdose, alcohol poisoning), CALL 911.

For information or confidential counseling about substance abuse problems or treatment programs, contact the Alcohol & Drug Abuse Prevention at 214-768-4021 during business hours (8:30 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. weekdays). After business hours and on weekends or holidays, contact the mental health professional on call at 214-768-2860.
