A new building in the SMU School
of Engineering
J. Linday Embrey Engineering Building

A gift of $7.5 million from Mr. and Mrs. J. Lindsay Embrey, Jr. will help to construct a new building for the School of Engineering, filling the critical space needs for two
departments and reflecting SMU’s commitment to excellence in engineering.

The construction of this new 50,000 square-foot building will complement the School’s other facilities. This building will comprise three floors and a basement and will serve as the home of two departments: Civil & Environmental Engineering and Mechanical Engineering.

Thus, in addressing the School of Engineering’s critical need for space as well as supporting the School’s impetus to develop in reputation and program offerings, the new building clearly represents the important, necessary next step for the School of Engineering.

For more information on the building or giving opportunities, please check this press release or contact Barbara Hollis at 214-768-3674.

Laura Lee Blanton
Student Services Building

The Laura Lee Blanton Student Services Building, opening in fall 2003, will be the entry point for new and potential students and their parents, as well as the central location of enrollment and financial services for current students. Located in SMU's new east quadrangle, the building will be home to undergraduate admissions, enrollment, financial aid, and student account services. It also will house the International Center, the Office of Information Technology Services, the SMU-in-Taos office, and a visitor welcome center.

Gifts of any amount are welcome. Many prominent naming opportunities remain for donors interested in supporting SMU students. For more information, contact Lisa Chou at 214-768-2610.

James M. Collins
Executive Education Center

The James M. Collins Executive Education Center will be a self-contained, state-of-the-art teaching and conference facility, enhancing the internationally ranked Executive M.B.A. programs at the Cox School of Business. Located in SMU's new east quadrangle, the building will include classrooms, seminar rooms, break-out spaces, event spaces, and an auditorium.

A number of giving priorities remain – many with prominent naming opportunities – for donors interested in supporting the work of the Cox School and the business community. For more information, contact Pam Conlin at 214-768-3738.

Dedman Life Sciences Building

The Dedman Life Sciences Building, dedicated in December 2001, is home to the Department of Biological Sciences and the Bob Smith, M.D., Family Pre-medical Studies Center.

The biological sciences' ever-present need for new and updated equipment provides a wide range of opportunities for donors interested in educating the medical professionals of the future, supporting vital research, and teaching all students about the world around them. For more information, contact Tricia Barnett at 214-768-7652 or 214-768-2691.

Hegi Family Career Development Center

Career development begins during a student's first year at SMU and continues well beyond his or her first job. Through the guidance of the professionals in the Hegi Family Career Development Center, students can discover the professional path that best suits them, along with the support that is vital as they find their place in their chosen field.

With the Hegi Centre's expansion, there are many opportunities for donors interested in supporting this service provided to SMU students and alumni. Gifts of any amount are welcome, and naming opportunities recognizing larger gifts to the Center's endowment are available. For more information, contact
Lisa Chou at 214-768-2610.

International Center at SMU

The International Center, serving students and their families from more than 90 countries, as well as students in SMU's study abroad programs, will be located in the new Laura Lee Blanton Student Services Building. The center's prominent place in this new facility will strengthen SMU's ability to attract international students and provide more accessible service to students involved or interested in study abroad.

As part of the Blanton Building project, the International Center includes a number of naming opportunities for significant gifts supporting the construction of the Center's facilities. Gifts of any amount are welcome. For more information, contact Robert Bucker at 214-768-3831.
