Almost a century ago, the leaders who founded SMU could never have known, or even predicted, how much impact their vision would have on the region, nor that their vision could take us so far…but we still have farther to go.
It is with this vision in mind that I reach out to you. SMU needs your ongoing support to help it continue strengthening the foundation upon which the University’s strong legacy is built. Your support, along with the support of other alumni and friends, will ensure that SMU will continue to grow in stature around the country. SMU must constantly reinvest in programs and support services to recruit and retain outstanding students and faculty and to provide the academic programs of the highest quality.
There is also great value in having a degree from SMU and you can benefit from your affiliation. By supporting the University and its mission, you are not only investing in your future, you are also helping to further SMU’s standing among top educational institutions. Rankings such as those reported by U.S. News & World Report factor the alumni giving rate into overall rankings and use it in determining how SMU compares to other schools. All of these factors underscore the importance of alumni financial support.
You can stand together with thousands of other alumni, acting with the power of one voice in advocacy of SMU’s mission. Your gift will support the University’s efforts in attracting the most prestigious faculty and in providing much needed support for scholarships and fellowships. In addition a gift to the SMU Fund will allow SMU to remain flexible, providing support almost immediately wherever it is needed most.
