Melinda E. Taylor is an attorney with extensive experience working on endangered species issues. She is currently the program manager for Environmental Defense's Ecosystem Restoration program, which includes all of the organization's work on habitat protection and water issues around the country. Ms. Taylor leads efforts in Environmental Defenses' Texas office to restore ecosystems and implement incentive programs for habitat restoration and conservation.

Prior to joining Environmental Defense in 1993, she was a partner in the law firm Henry, Lowerre & Taylor in Austin, Texas, where she represented environmental and citizen groups in proceedings in federal and state court and before administrative agencies. From 1988-1991, she was the deputy general counsel of the National Audubon Society in Washington, D.C. At Audubon, she managed the litigation docket and oversaw Audubon's toxics work.

Melinda is a founding board member of the Natural Resources Leadership Institute in North Carolina. She is a 1986 graduate of the University of Texas School of Law, and a 1983 graduate of the University of Texas at Austin where she majored in Plan II a liberal arts honors Phi Beta Kappa program, with an emphasis in economics. Ms. Taylor holds a B.A. and J.D. from the University of Texas and has been employed by Environmental Defense since 1993.
