
Barbara Morganfield began teaching in the Center for Teacher Preparation in fall 1997. She serves as a senior lecturer teaching courses in secondary teaching methods, effective learning environments, and student assessment. She is the primary advisor to pre-service teachers who plan to teach in middle or high schools. Dr. Morganfield also serves as the secondary education coordinator responsible for overseeing the secondary program for the center.
Dr. Morganfield serves on the advisory board for the Texas Beginning Educator Support System (TXBESS) and is currently working on a grant sponsored by TXBESS with her colleague, Dr. Lee Alvoid. The grant helps provide ongoing support for graduates of the Center for Teacher Preparation. She also served a two-year term as the secretary of the Texas Coordinators of Teacher Certification Testing.
Dr. Morganfield’s research interests are the alignment of assessment with instructional practice and the development of quality student-centered learning environments. She is currently serving as a consultant to a project related to assessment with Highland Park Middle School in the Highland Park ISD.
Dr. Morganfield’s degrees include a B.S. in Business Education from the University of South Dakota (1975); M.Ed. from George Peabody College for Teachers of Vanderbilt University (1982); and an Ed.D. from George Peabody College for Teachers of Vanderbilt University (1986).
