The Gifted Students Institute is now accepting nominations for the 2008 SMU Gifted Students Institute Emerging Leader Award. The Emerging Leader Award recognizes SMU TAG or College Experience alumni who have contributed significantly to a particular discipline, organization, or cause. Recognition is open to any outstanding SMU TAG or College Experience alumnus or alumna who participated in the program(s) prior to 1997.

Nomination Rules

Any individual may nominate an SMU TAG or College Experience alumna and/or alumnus for this award, and qualifying alumni may nominate themselves.

Any individual wishing to nominate an alumnus or alumna of SMU TAG or College Experience for consideration is asked to submit:

a Nomination Form (link to PDF),
a letter of nomination that includes biographical data regarding the nominee,
a letter of recommendation, and
supporting documentation (e.g., newspaper articles, newsletter citations).
If possible, please enclose the nominee's vita as well.

Nominations must be postmarked by April 15, 2008 for consideration.

Once nominated, the individual’s name remains in nomination for a total of three consecutive years, including the initial year in which s/he was nominated. After that time, the individual may be nominated again.
