SMU Continuing Studies Creative Writing Program
The fifteen-year-old noncredit Creative Writing Program at SMU, directed by author J. Suzanne Frank (a.k.a. author Chloe Green), offers writing courses for long and short fiction, television, film and stage, poetry, memoir, children's books, and nonfiction for print media. Intensive workshops in fiction and grammar, as well as the business side of writing round out the program.
Each year for the past 10, the program's qualified writers with a completed novel have traveled to New York to meet with agents and editors in private consultations. To date, 10 students of the program have had their work published as a direct result of this seminar and SMU's connections in the publishing world.
In addition to regularly scheduled classes, the SMU Continuing Studies Creative Writing Program offers manuscript evaluation and private tutorials in fiction and non-fiction.
