Dedman College Majors

individualized studies
in the liberal arts

The individualized studies major often is used by students who are drawn to areas offered as minors – such as women’s studies or Asian studies – or by those who are very specific in their academic pursuits – for example, “Political Science and Minority Groups throughout History.” Expand your potential with a personally meaningful and relevant education and, in doing so, assume more responsibility for your own education. To be considered as an individualized studies candidate, you must complete 24 term hours at SMU, have a GPA of at least 3.50, and submit a formal plan of study.
