The deadline for filling an application and submitting all supporting materials is June 1 for the fall semester, November 1 for the spring semester, and April 1 for the summer.
Candidates for admission to the Evening Bachelor's Degree Program must hold a high school diploma or equivalent degree and have earned at least 45 transferable credits from accredited collegiate institutions with a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.5.
All transfer work must be evaluated and approved before it can be applied toward a degree. Since up to 62 credit hours of previous collegiate work may be transferred to SMU, many students can finish their degree within three years.
No transfer credit is given for any coursework completed at unaccredited institutions, and only those courses completed with a grade of C- or better are eligible for credit. Once admitted to SMU, students are not permitted to transfer additional coursework from a two-year institution. Credit will not be granted for professional experiences.
SMU's Admissions Office provides a web site with information about transfer equivalencies for three local community college systems: Dallas, Tarrant, and Collin county community college districts.
There is no minimum-hours requirement for students in part-time evening programs. Students may enroll for a maximum of nine credit hours per semester. Approval from the Dedman College Dean's Office is required to enroll for more than nine credit hours in a single semester.
