Once you have paid your deposit you will begin receiving information from the Office of New Student Programs, including information about AARO (Academic Advising, Registration, and Orientation).
- Make your reservation to attend AARO
- Complete the First Year Profile
- Send all final high school and
college transcripts to:

Dallas, Texas 75275-0181 - Have your official AP or IB scores sent to SMU (same address as above)
- Work through First-Year Planning to learn about SMU. For
example, do the following:
- Evaluate your AP or IB scores
- Determine which placement exams to take
- Familiarize yourself with Academic Policies
- Look at other information pertinent to first-year students and transfer students at New@SMU.
- Bring
to AARO for your advising appointment:
- A copy of all college transcripts
- A copy of your AP or IB scores
