ACS LogoAcademic Computing Services (ACS), located on the first floor of Fondren Library West [map], is a division of Budget and Information Technology Services (BITS). We provide campus-wide resource for information and assistance regarding instructional technology. ACS focuses its areas of expertise into five departments:

Classroom Technology Support

  • Provides support for more than 100 technology-equipped classrooms on campus.
  • Supervises design, engineering, and project management for instructional technology implementation initiatives
  • Supports video conferencing services across campus.

Course Management Systems

  • Responsible for the Blackboard learning management system.

Multimedia & Web Development

  • Assists faculty with development of web pages, CD-ROMs and other instructional material.
  • Oversees STAR faculty assistance program.

Professional Development

  • Offers software training for faculty and staff.

Statistical and Research Support

  • Provides statistical consulting support to the SMU academic and administrative community.
  • Assists with statistical and mathematical software functionality and acquisition for centrally funded software.
