UNDERESTIMATE THE POWER OF A GOOD CATALOG RECORD! The following e-mail was sent to the DeGolyer Library (followed by the response from Russell Martin): Hi, I live in San Jose, CA, and would like to
find out how I can obtain a copy of a book you recently acquired. I would like to get either a photocopy via mail or a digital scan file via email. Can you tell me how I can request this, what the cost would be, and what forms of payment you accept? Thank you, Eric Thacker __________________________________________________________________________________________ This fellow restores old stoves in San Jose, CA; found our listing on the internet (he'd been searching high and low for illustrations of early Spark stoves) and thanks to Katherine's catalogue record, he's now able to complete his project. This is the kind of thing that makes my day. RLM P.S. We're copying only the illustrations, not the entire book, by the way. |

If you have a staff member in your area that you would like to nominate (new or old) please contact me. (You can even volunteer yourself :) ) |
