Colophon Lecture by David Farmer
Friends of the SMU Libraries Colophon cordially invites you to a lecture and exhibition on Willard Clark, Santa Fe Printer & Printmaker, Friday, January 19, 2001, at 7:00 p.m. in the O’Donnell Lecture Hall at Meadows School of the Arts. David Farmer, Director of the DeGolyer Library and Head of Special Collections for Central University Libraries, will give an illustrated presentation on Clark. Following the lecture, David will lead a gallery talk through the exhibition at the Mildred Hawn Gallery in the Hamon Fine Arts Library. David will also autograph copies of his book, Willard Clark: Printer/Printmaker, at the reception.

Cynthia Standfield will teach a workshop on using Outlook Exchange. Outlook Exchange enables users to read and send email from SMU email accounts using WebMail, to view and share Outlook Calendars, and to coordinate meetings and appointments. This workshop will be most useful for those who are already familiar with MS Outlook and who have an active account on the new NT Exchange Server. Registration is required; please email michelle@mail.smu.edu to register.

CUL Food for Fines Drive Proves Popular
During the month of December, the libraries' Food for Fines drive collected over 1400 cans of food for the North Texas Food Bank. At $2 per can, that is over $2,800 worth of fines!
 

STAFF NEWS

Bruce Evans and his wife Terri would like to announce the birth of a son! Chandler Vance Evans was born on December 23 at 12:07 pm.  He was 10 pounds, 6 oz and 22 inches at birth.  He is doing very well, and his proud parents are quite elated.  He is their second child; the first being their daughter, Mikhayla, now 3 1/2.

Margaret Dew  has departed CMIT; her last day was December 22.  The good news is she is still on campus. She has taken a position in the Business School as an Information Specialist and Support Coordinator. Margaret joined CMIT in July, 1991 as a part-time scheduling clerk.  She became full-time in 1995 and subsequently took over media acquisitions while continuing her scheduling duties. She has been a wonderful member of the CMIT team these nearly ten years, and has earned an excellent reputation among the faculty and staff for her diligence and professionalism. We will certainly miss her, but we wish her the best in her new position. Please join the CMIT staff in wishing her well and thanking her for her years of service.

Michelle Gonzales (FLC) was recently interviewed for an article that appeared in the Dallas Morning News religion section on December 23. The article, "Into the Light of Hanukkah," was one of three profiles of people who have found new meaning in religion this year.

Jan Buford (SEL/IIS) would like to announce the birth of another grandson- Keeton Lamar Shapiro, born December 7 at 2:46 p.m. He was 7 lbs. 3 oz. and 20" long. The proud parents are Rob and Robyn Shapiro.

Hamon Exhibition: Willard Clark: Santa Fe Printer/Printmaker
January 16-March 2, 2001, Hawn Gallery, Hamon Arts Library
Willard Clark, master printer, created hundreds of prints and paintings in the 82 years of his life (1910-1992). A resident of Santa Fe since 1928, Clark addressed virtually all aspects of life in northern New Mexico.  David Farmer, Director of DeGolyer Library, curated the exhibition (which opened at the Grace Museum in Abilene in September) and authored the accompanying catalogue, Willard Clark: Printer & Printmaker.
