Student Multimedia Center
Located in the Information Commons, this area provides students access to high end computers, software, collaborative spaces and staff assistance to develop a variety of digital projects such as DVDs and web video, digital portfolios, and other media-intensive projects.
Assistance
The Student MultiMedia Center welcomes walk-in patrons. Staff are available to answer questions.
If you would like dedicated staff assistance on a project, please reserve that time in advance by sending a request to multimedia@smu.edu
Facilities
The Student MultiMedia Center has:
- 12 individual “Creation Stations”, each equipped with a 24" Apple iMac computer, dedicated scanner, 500g of additional storage and a variety of creative software. These stations have access to two mobile digital video decks (DV and HDV) - located in room 108.
- 2 “Group Project Rooms” with Apple Intel-based MacPro computers, dual monitors, video equipment and the latest professional software - located in rooms 108C and 108D
- 2 “Group Practice Rooms” - where students can practice class presentations using technology similar to that installed in classrooms, such as computers (20" Apple Intel-based iMacs and presentation software), video projectors, video playback, etc. Installed video cameras will let students record their presentations for evaluation and review. Students can also schedule practice time in the screening room (room FLE109B). Located in rooms 108B and 108E.
