The Botanical Research Institute of Texas (BRIT) is located at 509 Pecan Street in Fort Worth, Texas (817-429-3200). The BRIT Library contains monographs, books, periodicals, and dried and mounted plant specimens of an international scope. This collection was formerly housed in the SMU Herbarium as part of the Science and Engineering Library until 1990 when it was moved to Ft. Worth on permanent loan. A large part of this collection is still owned by SMU and represented in our PONI online catalog. Materials may be obtained through Interlibrary Loan. The BRIT library and plant specimens have been acclaimed as one of the top 10 herbarium collections in the U.S.
