Account Services

To check out materials borrowers must have an active barcode on a valid SMU ID card or Library card.  

Proxy, Alumni, Colophon, Research, Associate, and TexShare accounts can be created or updated at the Hamon Arts Library between 8:00am and 6:00pm Monday-Friday. For all other times, please visit the Fondren Library Circulation Desk.

Reserves is the place to go for information on electronic or in-house reserve materials or requests.

Reference Assistance can be requested in several ways:

1. In person at the Information Desk, located in the first-floor lobby;

2.  By phoning or e-mailing a reference librarian with a specific question:

3.by scheduling an appointment with a reference librarian to discuss your research project.

4. Use the Ask a Librarian services offered by Central University Libraries.      http://smu.edu/cul/ask/

 If you would like to be contacted by phone, please remember to provide a daytime number where you can be reached.  Under normal circumstances, a librarian will respond to your request by the following day, Monday through Friday.  Please route phone and e-mail requests to the appropriate subject specialist.

Interlibrary Loan Services

Interlibrary loan requests are submitted online to the Central University Libraries Interlibrary Loan Office.  This office is located on the first floor od the Fondren Library Center, adjacent to the reference desk in room 105.  The telephone number is 214 768 2328.  You can also visit ILL online directly at: http://smu.edu/cul/ill/
