Access To The Collections
The Government Information Resources Department Ofices are located on the first floor of the Fondren Library Center, in Room 102. The Department Offices are located directly west of the Fondren Library Center Information Commons; signs are posted near the main library entrance to assist you in locating the Department Offices.
Both the Federal and Texas Collections, with exceptions (see below), "open" and available to be browsed during all hours that the Fondren Library Center complex is open. The bulk of both the Federal and State Collections are housed within the Department Offices. Reference materials pertinent to government information, such as document indexes, are shelved near the main entrance to the Department. The remainder of the east side of the room is occupied by the Department Offices and a large study area. Federal publications in both paper as well as CD-ROM and DVD-ROM formats are housed on the west side of the room. The Texas Collection is shelved along the back wall of Room 102. Government publications in microformats (both fiche and film) are curently housed in the Fondren Library Center Microforms Area.
