Science and Engineering Collections

The Science and Engineering Library includes collections in biology, chemistry, computer science, earth sciences, mathematics, physics, statistics, and civil, environmental, mechanical, and electrical engineering. The library has particularly strong collections in the earth sciences, electronics, telecommunications, general science and technology.

Several special collections are also located in the library:.

• On the first floor, the Edwin J. Foscue Map Library houses over 250,000 maps and is one of the largest map collections in the Southwest.
• The Everett DeGolyer Earth Sciences Collection, located in the northeast corner of the second floor, contains books and periodicals related to oil & gas, geology, geophysics, hydrology, and geochemistry.
• The Lewis MacNaughton collection of oil & gas and petroleum engineering publications is also located on the second floor.
• The Arthur A. Collins collection holds titles in telecommunications, electronics, and computers which are integrated within Science and Engineering's circulating monographs.

These collections are kept current by endowment funds named for their donors.

Other general science and engineering titles, that are distributed throughout the library are purchased with income from the Lloyd Berkner fund, the T. O. Cheatham Science Fund, and the SEL Gift Fund.
