A map of Rome during the Renaissance showing both ancient monuments and important Christian pilgrimage sites.
One interesting feature of the map is that it shows the location of two ancient pyramids: the pyramid of Cestius still stands but the second pyramid near the mausoleum of Hadrian was dismantled in the fifteenth century so the marble could be used for a new staircase in the Vatican. This map preserves one of the few known illustrations of the second pyramid still in situ.
