
Ordering and Processing Materials purchased with gift money
This procedure is for use by Collection Development staff,
CIP staff and student assistants who order, receive, catalog and end process
materials that have been designated for purchase with gift money.
Ordering
- In the 939 field of OCLC Select, enter the exact
wording of the donor note to appear both on the gift plate and in the 590
field of the bibliographic record. Examples:
Gift of Lindalyn Adams.
Gift of John Gilman Glezen in
memory of (or in honor of) the Glezen family.
Receiving
- Type
the gift plate using the wording from the 939 field.
- Paperclip
the gift plate to the first page of the book.
- Write 590
gift note on the top of the location flag to alert the cataloger to
enter the local note.
Cataloging
- Enter
the gift donor note in the 590 field of the bibliographic record, using
the exact wording on the attached gift plate.
End processing
- Affix
the gift plate to the inside cover of the book.
