This document is intended for catalogers who make decisions on classification practice and code series authority records. In some instances, we originally classified the items in the series together and are now classifying them separately. Consult with Collection Development staff before making this decision.

Add a note to the bibliographic record to provide information regarding changes in classification practice.

Create a holdings record to represent the parts of the series that are classified separately.

There will always be at least two holdings records, one or more for the parts that are classified together and one for the parts that are classified separately.
