fiction Genre Headings

This document summarizes the policy for adding and retaining fiction genre headings in bibliographic records.

Policy

Do not routinely add fiction genre headings to bibliographic records.  Make exceptions to this policy as needed for special collections and as deemed necessary through cataloger’s judgment.  In all cases added fiction genre headings must comply with a thesaurus and be coded correctly in the 655 field.

 

Do not delete fiction genre headings from bibliographic records unless they are clearly erroneous.
