memberships, blanket orders, package Plans, and combinations
This document is intended for staff who will be placing standing orders received as Memberships, Blanket Orders, Package Plans, and/or Combinations.
Memberships
Purchase order prefix is MB. Memberships may bring in multiple types of publications, or a publication may bring in a membership. A bibliographic record for a membership is necessary as orders for additional materials from that organization may be eligible for discounts as a result of the membership. Payment is usually required for membership in an organization. Each title has its own separate purchase order. The membership title is added as the second line item on the purchase order. Payment is usually made on the membership order.

Blanket Orders
Purchase order prefix is BL. These materials are treated like standing orders. The assigned title is usually the name of the publisher that has offered an indeterminate selection of materials. This tends to be a subject-based coverage plan. Unnumbered titles are grouped together on a purchase order, which is approved. Numbered titles have separate purchase orders for each title, which are also approved. Payment is made on the individual line item.

Package Plans
Purchase order prefix is PK. These packages contain specific titles. On the bibliographic record, the assigned title is usually the name of a group of titles offered by a vendor/publisher as a set or plan. Each title has its own separate purchase order, which remains pending. The package plan title is added as the second line item on the purchase order. Payment is made on the umbrella order.

Purchase order prefix is CB. Combinations may bring in multiple types of publications. Each title has its own separate purchase order, with the purchased title added as the second line item, which remains pending. Payment is made on the order with the CB prefix. Bibliographic records are for the actual titles of the materials.
