WORD DEFAULT SETTINGs FOR HEADING STYLES

The default settings in Word apply the “Headings” styles as you type. So if you are writing documentation and begin using Arial 16 bold, Word defaults that text to a style, Heading 1. This causes compatibility problems when the document is used on the CIP web site.

To change Word so text does not switch Heading styles:

Step 1

From the Menu bar open Tools >> AutoCorrect >> AutoFormat As You Type

Under Apply as you type

Clear the box-Headings

Under Replace as you type

Clear the box-Straight quotes with smart quotes

Under Automatically as you type

Clear the box-Define styles based on your formatting

Click OK

(All other choices are optional)

Step 2

From the Menu bar open Tools >> AutoCorrect >> AutoFormat

Under Apply

Clear the box-Headings

Under Replace

Clear the box-Straight quotes with smart quotes

Click OK

(All other choices are optional)
