Your privacy is important to Central University Libraries. No information gathered by Ask A Librarian is ever given to third parties. For information about Southern Methodist University's commitment to Privacy, see SMU's Right to Know and Other Legal Disclosures.
When you use Ask A Librarian, you may be asked to provide:By providing your e-mail address you will receive a transcript of your transaction including links to any Internet sites visited. The transcript is also sent to the staff member who assisted you, so that if you contact us again or we locate additional information that may useful to you, we can contact you with the information. Transcripts may be reviewed by supervisory staff to insure quality of service.
We may need to refer your question and forward the transcript to a staff expert or an expert in the Global Reference Network (The Global Reference Network is a project led by the US Library of Congress, bringing a wide variety of libraries together to work on a variety of issues.) Questions and the accompanying responses may be added to a local or networked database of reference questions. Your name and other identifying information will be removed before your question and the accompanying answer are added to any database.
At the end of your session, we ask you to complete a survey. Supplying personal information is optional.
Our policy discloses the privacy practices of the Ask a Librarian staff at Southern Methodist University. During the course of your transaction we may send you to other sites on the Internet that are beyond our control. You need to make yourself aware of the Privacy Policies and Data Collections practices of those sites especially if you share any personal information.
