Off Campus Q Drive Access Support
If you are off campus, using PPP or VPN, or away from your computer on campus, the easiest method for accessing the Q drive Financial Reports is through FTP. Use the following steps to access the Q drive via FTP.
Alternative 1 - My Network Places Shortcut
Double-click My Network Places on your desktop.
Double-click Add Network Place
For the location, type ftp://s31app.systems.smu.edu then click Next.
Uncheck “Log on anonymously” and enter your EMPLID then click Next.
Enter the name that you wish to use to access your Financial Reports and click Finish.
To access your reports, Double-Click Financial Reports under My Network Places.
When the window opens after you double-click, you will be asked for your network password. Click Login.
You can now browse your “Q Drive” reports in the window. If you wish, Select Favorites, Add to Favorites so that you no longer need to type the address into Internet Explorer.

report you wish to open, double-click the report. To see how it will look
when opening a report, see Accessing Your Reports.
Alternative 2 - Internet Explorer Browser
Open up Internet Explorer and type in the following address: ftp://s31app.systems.smu.edu
Enter your EMPLID and network password. Click Login.
You can now browse your “Q Drive” reports in the window. If you wish, Select Favorites, Add to Favorites so that you no longer need to type the address into Internet Explorer.
When you find the report you wish to open, double-click the report. To see how it will act, see Accessing Your Reports.
Accessing Your Reports
When you Double-Click your report using either method, you will get prompted for your logon information. Once entered, the report will act the same as it does by accessing it through the Q Drive.
