Research Interests:

We employ macromolecular engineering to prepare well-defined polymeric materials with selected functionality, composition, and molecular architecture. Using a variety of synthetic techniques, we gain access to a range of novel (co)polymers and particularly focus on those that are water-soluble. Potential target applications include novel biocompatible or biodegradable materials for controlled drug delivery, surface modification, and new catalytic nanoparticles that facilitate more efficient chemical reactions under environmentally-friendly conditions. Much of our interests is at the interface of polymer, organic, and biochemistries with particular focus on fusing the fields to prepare novel materials with composite properties.
