Occasionally a cat will turn up in one of our colonies that is clearly not a feral cat.  These cats are attached to humans and do not have the survival skills that true ferals have developed.  They do not know how to find shelter, they do not know area predators, they are ill-equipped for survival in the wild. These cats would do much better as pets in homes.

Faculty and staff may adopt strays through the Volunteer Team network.

The campus community is reminded to please take unwanted family pets to adoption facilities located throughout the metroplex.

"Tip" was found wondering around outside the business school.  He's a neutered, declawed, adult, male, comfortable in a home environment.
He uses a litter box and likes sleeping on the bed.  No known health issues and ready for a home.

ADOPTED!

"Chance"/Pan/John Coltrane is a lovely white male, the Daddy of the kittens below.  He's been neutered, vaccinated, and flea treated.  The vets at Hillside Vet Clinic have tested him for common diseases -- all negative.  He has one sore in his mouth that will need to be re-checked, but he's in good shape.  Because the vet has guessed his age at 2-3 years old, he has no major health issues expected.  He's lazy, loves catnip, talks a little, loves to be brushed.  If you want a cat whose talent is finding the sunny spot to sleep in, this is the cat for you!

Our female kittens, Dot and Bindi, still need homes.  They are about 10 weeks old and flea-free.  They are not old enough/big enough for vaccinations or spaying yet.  They love cat toys, lapsitting, and having their face pet.

Not adopted.  They were taken to the Second Chance SPCA 12-7-07.

This little kitten (we're calling him Kizmet) was found on campus this summer (2007) and needs a permanent home.  He's playful, gets along with other cats, and has been to the vet for age-appropriate vaccinations.  When old enough, he can be neutered by our vet (free of charge) or yours, if you prefer.

"Max" is one of the friendliest cats on campus.  He was neutered and ear-tipped in 2004.  He is our one-eyed campus cat, as he had to undergo eye removal recently, but has been given a clean bill of health by the vet.  He loves tummy rubs.  He may be wary at first, but will warm up quickly in a safe environment.  He gives kisses and constantly kneads his front paws, a left over kitten behavior.  Dr Sarpong at Hillside Vet Clinic says "this would be a great cat for someone!"

Joe is the most socialized cat on campus.  He's so loving we call him Gigolo Joe.

Scooter (now Bertie) is recovering from an injury, and he is clearly a loving, playful one-year-old.  He's very patient, cooperative, a lap sitter, and a real purr box!

The Campus Police found this pretty 2-3 yr old girl and brought her to us.  She purrs happily, loves to be pet, and is very people-oriented.  We took her to the vet where she got a clean bill of health and all vaccinations.

Someone dumped this precious baby on campus, and luckily, we found her before she got seriously ill or hurt.  Her adoptive parents took her immediately to the vet, where she received antibiotics and other needed care.

Some irresponsible person dumped this friendly, neutered little boy on campus the summer of 2007.  He remained living outside for so long, it's a miracle he wasn't seriously hurt.  He followed people in the evening who were just walking through campus for exercise, throwing himself at everyone he could.
He has visited the vet and was eventually adopted.
