Visioneering | DFW-area students address real-world issues.
Held annually during Engineers Week, Visioneering targets middle school students from underrepresented communities in the D-FW area. The event brings together students, engineers, entrepreneurs and national figures from industries and businesses. Visioneering exposes students to engineering through live entertainment and group work to solve real-world problems. For many students, it provides opportunities to experience the excitement of careers in science and engineering, while providing a learning opportunity in a fun, hands-on environment.
Visioneering exposes DFW-area students to educational opportunities in math and science, while deconstructing stereotypes about careers in engineering and technology. This year, almost 400 students worked with professional engineers to plan the Cities of the Future. In teams of eight to 10, students learned about engineering design and discovered how math and science are used in solving everyday problems, like planning future urban areas.
