Dr. Annemarie Weyl Carr
In May 2008, Dr. Annemarie Weyl Carr, Distinguished Professor of Art History, will retire after an illustrious career at SMU. She is distinguished not only by her international prominence as a scholar of Byzantine art but also by her passionate engagement with teaching and commitment to professional service.
The Annemarie Weyl Carr Graduate Excellence Fund in Art History will honor Dr. Carr’s legacy at SMU by providing critically needed support for graduate research, travel and scholarship in Art History.
The Annemarie Weyl Carr fellowships, in particular, will enable SMU to compete for top students by providing support for international travel to museums, archives and collections as they research their theses.
The SMU Meadows School of the Arts intends to award a $7500 annual stipend in Dr. Carr’s name starting in 2008-2009 and ultimately to fully fund an endowed graduate fellowship that will provide $22,000 annually to support rigorous graduate education at SMU.
